Information meeting for the sector of art and culture

Friday November 16 2007 | 13.00 - 18.00
Vlaams-Nederlands Huis deBuren
Leopoldstraat 6B – 1000 Brussels
Belgium

The direct cause for this information meeting is a previous meeting held on June 22, 2007 at the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. This ‘Expert meeting file formats audiovisual heritage’ was organised by Digital Heritage Netherlands, the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision and the Taskforce Audiovisual. A report of this meeting can be found here (only in Dutch).

The goal of this meeting at deBuren is the exchange of knowledge on the preservation and archiving of audiovisual documents. Topics of discussion are amongst others standardisation, shared ICT-infrastructure and European projects on preservation. A number of leading institutions from the Netherlands and Flanders will give short presentations on their approach of preservation of their analogue/digital content. What are the needs and considerations, and according to which principles does archiving take place?

Speakers: Marco De Niet, Brigit Hoomans, Erik Martens, Dries Moreels, Willem Vanneste, Mette Van Essen.
