BAVC - Bay Area Video Coalition

The Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) is a nonprofit media arts center that was founded in 1976 by a coalition of media makers and activists who wanted to find alternative, civic-minded applications for a new technology - PortaPak video. Their continuing mission is to inspire social change by enabling the sharing of diverse stories through art, education and technology.


Daniel Langlois Foundation - Centre for Research and Documentation (CR+D)

This Canadian Foundation aims to further human knowledge by supporting artistic, scientific and technological research. Revealing the interdependency between ourselves and our omnipresent technological environment is at the core of the Foundation’s questioning.
The DOCAM Project (Documentation and Conservation of the Media Arts Heritage) is one of the projects that are being supported by the Daniel Langlois Foundation. The main objective of DOCAM is to develop new methodologies and tools to address the issues of preserving and documenting digital, technological and electronic works of art.


Digitaal Erfgoed Nederland (DEN)

Digitaal Erfgoed Nederland (DEN) – or Digital Heritage Netherlands – is the Dutch national knowledge platform for ICT and cultural heritage. It collects and distributes knowledge about ICT standards and practices in order to improve the quality of digitisation and digital services. This way, DEN supports the cultural heritage sector towards creating together a national Digital Heritage Collection in a professional, future-proof, and public-oriented manner.
DEN maintains an ICT registry and projects bank, monitors how heritage institutions are actually putting their ICT knowledge to practice, and organises events and meetings to share knowledge and stimulate innovation.


Electronic Media Group (American Institute for Conservation)

The mission of the Electronic Media Group is two fold: (1) to preserve electronic art, electronic-based cultural materials and tools of its creation; and (2) to provide a means for conservators and related professionals to develop and maintain knowledge of relevant new media and emerging technologies.
Areas of interest are the preservation of audio, video, digital, web-based and "time-based" media and art; creation and maintenance of digital archives; digital imaging for preservation and access to collection materials; digital imaging in conservation documentation; preservation and conservation of digital prints; and the documentation and conservation of electronic playback equipment and computer software and hardware.
EMC holds workshops for conservators and host panel discussions on issues such as education of media preservation professionals.

Expertisecentrum DAVID (eDAVID)

Expertisecentrum DAVID vzw is a centre of research and knowledge on digital archiving. The research domain of eDAVID concerns:
- digital born documents, specifically those produced in business and government processes and requiring long term preservation
- digitised documents, notably photographs, audio and video material present in archives, museums and libraries, etc.


IMAP - Independent Media Arts Preservation

Independent Media Arts Preservation, Inc. (IMAP) is a nonprofit service, education, and advocacy organization committed to the preservation of non-commercial electronic media. IMAP has grown from a New York—based consortium of arts organizations and individuals to a national resource for preservation training, information, and advocacy.


INCCA - International Network for the Conservation of Contemporary Art

INCCA is a network of professionals connected to the conservation of modern and contemporary art. Conservators, curators, scientists, registrars, archivists, art historians and researchers are among its members. Members allow access to each others unpublished information (artist interviews, condition reports, installation instructions etc) through the INCCA Database for Artists' Archives.

Memoriav

As an association, Memoriav’s objective is to preserve and index Switzerland’s audiovisual cultural heritage and in doing so, it contributes to the enlargement of the country’s collective memory. Memoriav has formed and fosters a network of institutions and individuals who preserve, produce or benefit from Switzerland’s audiovisual heritage, with the goal of exchanging expertise and information and better utilising existing resources.

The Netherlands Media Art Institute, Montevideo/Time Based Arts has set the goal for itself of promoting the wide development, application and distribution of, and reflection on new technologies in the visual arts. ZKM - Centre for Art and Media Technology

This research centre from Karlsruhe combines production and research, exhibitions and events, coordination and documentation. One of the departments of the ZKM is the Laboratory for Antique Video Systems, founded in 2004. Here methods are developed to restore decades old videotape and rare tape cassette formats which are largely no longer playable. With equipment consisting of more than 300 devices, the laboratory is in the position to convert almost 50 various video formats from the mid-1960s to the 1980s into high-quality digital form and so secure them for the long-term.
